The strategy for the Tokai region is "sustainable development as a leading global manufacturing center." Our objective is to create a Tokai Region Nanotechnology Manufacturing Cluster which utilizes advanced nanotechnology to improve the quality of materials and manufacturing technologies at the leading core enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises that form the basis of the automobile, machine tool, and aircraft industries in this region.
The motto of this cluster initiative is "Creating World-Leading, Environmentally-Friendly Advanced Functional Materials and Devices." On the basis of our knowledge in advanced plasma nanotechnology and engineering, we are conducting research and development (R&D) activity that aims to achieve greater material functionality and developing advanced nanoprocessing technologies that will conserve energy and reduce the environmental load. These research results can also be used for supporting application research and prototype development. In addition, we are working with other organizations in the region for promoting technology transfer to and commercialization of the core and small and medium-sized enterprises.
